Hardin Valley Youth Football

As most of you already know we are beginning our very own HARDIN VALLEY YOUTH FOOTBALL ORGANIZATION! 

This is a very exciting time for not only our Youth program, but also our High School program!

Coach Wes Jones

 

Speed Camp!

I expect all football players that are not participating in another sport to participate in Speed Development.

Speed Development sessions will start on Tuesday December 2nd. 

They will run every Tuesday and Thursday (in school days) in December and January.  The time will be from 3:45 - 5:15. 

Meet outside the track near the concession stand.

 

Dead Period

Dead period will be June 21-July 5. 
PLEASE try and schedule any vacations for this time period. 

Student Assistant Positions

 

The football team is in need of 4 student assistants for the first evert 2008-2009 VARSITY football team!

Interested students can pick up an application in Coach Jones room (F 103) before school or between classes.

Coach Wes Jones
THE HEAD COACH

Wes Jones is the head football coach at Hardin Valley Academy.  He taught and coached at Austin East Magnet High School.  He was the assistant head football coach and assistant track coach at A.E.  While Wes was at A.E. he helped lead the boys track team to runner-up and the girls track team to a state championship. Wes also helped lead the football team to a third round playoff appearance. Since beginning his career as a teacher/coach he has worked at Shelbyville Central High School, Cocke County High School, and Austin East where his job titles have included assistant football coach, head track coach, head football coach, physical conditioning teacher, drivers education teacher and assistant basketball coach. 

Wes Jones was raised in Greeneville, Tennessee by his parents, Jimmy and Barbara Jones. Wes attended Greeneville High School from 1988-1992.  He then went on to East Tennessee State University where he was the football team captain in 1996.  He was a center/offensive lineman.  He was a second team all conference player and helped lead the team to their first appearance in the quarter finals in the NCAA.  He was also named academic All Southern Conference.

Wes Jones lives in west Knoxville.  He will be marrying his fiancé, Sarah, on July 12.  Wes has one nine year old daughter, McKenzie.

Coach Furman
(Running Backs/Defensive Backs Coach) 

Coach Rudy Furman is an assistant football coach and assistant wrestling coach at Hardin Valley Academy.  He previously taught and coached at Ooltewah Middle School, Ooltewah High School, Horace Maynard Middle School and Union County High School.  He has been a head golf, baseball, soccer and wrestling coach as well as assistant football coach.  While Coach Furman was at Union County he helped lead the Patriots to their first ever TSSAA playoff appearance in 2004.  Coach Furman coached running backs and linebackers as well as being the defensive coordinator at Union County High School. Coach Furman also has had over 20 qualifiers to the state wrestling tournament and one third place medalist. Coach Furman is certified in chemistry and will teach conceptual physics and chemistry at HVA.
 

Coach Furman was raised in Knoxville, Tennessee by his parents, Bob and Ginny Furman. Coach Furman attended Knoxville Catholic High School from 1991-1995.  While at Catholic, he was a four sport athlete qualifying for the TSSAA state wrestling tournament and leading the Irish to the TSSAA playoffs earning All East Tennessee honors.  He then went on to UT-Chattanooga where he earned his degree.  He was has played semi-professional football for the Chattanooga Steam, Tennessee Raiders, and Knoxville Knights. 
Coach Furman lives in west Knoxville.  He is married to the former Georgianna Sexton, a 1998 graduate of Halls High School.  Georgianna works in sales at Court South west club.
Coach Furman will coach running backs and defensive backs for the hawks.
